Optimised heat dissipation

Charger One comes in a casing machined out of a 6061 T6 aluminium block to optimise heat dissipation. The black colour we have selected has nothing to do with personal aesthetic preference, but simply provides the most effective heat sink. The shot-peening process microscopically extends the surface area of the casing by up to 120% for further improvement in heat dissipation.

Surface

Our casing surfaces are subjected to two surface treatments – first, hard anodising to give the surface a hard oxidised protective layer resistant to salt water; and second, the shot-peening process, which involves blasting surfaces with shot. Especially used in reinforcing heavy-duty objects, this process has found a prime purpose in the aerospace industry. As an aside, shot peening also improves the tactile grip on the casing. All of the lettering on Charger One is laser-engraved rather than printed, making the lettering far more durable.
